We’re looking for a geoscientist who is experienced in integrating 3D seismic and well log data for offshore Nile Delta in a complex, heterolithic section. The main goals of this project are to identify and map the key Messinian stratigraphic surfaces (with a focus on multiple and complex unconformities) and create a depositional model that will be used to characterize the prospectivity and risks of potential hydrocarbon traps in the area.

The ideal candidate is currently working or has worked the Nile Delta Basin in the past and is familiar with or actively pursuing academic research on the Mediterranean Messinian and the impact of the Messinian Salinity Crisis (MSC). Post-docs and researchers who meet necessary qualifications and less than 5+ years of experience are welcome and encouraged to apply.

The key deliverables of this project will include:

  • Well correlation panels using log and (limited) biostratigraphic data with a focus on high resolution sequence stratigraphy

  • Framework interpretation of key depositional surfaces from a 3D seismic volume

  • Sweet spot prospectivity analysis

  • Report summarizing work and findings

What You’ll Bring:

  • Active interest or link to active research in the project AOI (required)

  • Relevant experience in the Nile Delta offshore or relevant Mediterranean Messinian geology (required)

  • Skilled in interpreting and integrating seismic and well data, including experience with seismic-to-well-ties

  • Comfortable using a sequence stratigraphy approach to map depositional systems

  • Competent conducting qualitative assessments on the prospect scale

  • Experienced Petrel user

Project Application closes on 25 August 2024 at 5pmCT/ 10pm UTC.
