Description
We are seeking a diverse and collaborative team of geoscientists and lead generators to contribute to the exploration of the deep-water Niger Delta, focusing on the Miocene and Oligocene opportunities. This project aims to review and generate new lead concepts, challenging conventional thinking and moving beyond commodity knowledge of the Area of Interest (AOI). The team will integrate a variety of datasets of varying quality into a coherent sweet spot assessment to create a comprehensive prospect portfolio. This exciting opportunity requires individuals with a passion for innovation, the ability to think critically and creatively, and a willingness to contest traditional views. The team will be led by a dedicated Team Lead (TL) and will work collaboratively to achieve project objectives.
Responsibilities
The geoscientists will work collaboratively to deliver interpretations based on seismic and well data, supplemented by other relevant datasets. The team will be responsible for the quality control of existing lead portfolios, generating new leads and trap concepts, structure and amplitude maps, and scoping volumes and risk. This project will also have a significant geophysical component including AVO and amplitude vs depth analysis.
The Team Lead (TL) will be a contributing member of the technical evaluation team and will have the additional responsibility of coordinating team efforts, ensuring adherence to scope and timelines, and providing regular project progress updates and documentation. Critically, the TL will foster a collaborative environment, encouraging the team to question established beliefs and nurture new ideas, while also acting as a mentor and guide to team members.
What You’ll Bring (all candidates):
Geophysics: Knowledge of data quality/conditioning for AVO, Amplitude/AVO skillset. Skilled in 3D seismic interpretation.
Exploration: Skilled in lead generation and maturation. Proficient in exploration volume estimation and risking and play-based exploration workflows.
Stratigraphy & Structure: Experienced mapping deep water settings.
Experience: 15+ years of experience in regional and frontier exploration and play analysis. Experience working Tertiary deltaic systems (Niger Delta experience not required but preferred).
Expertise: Expert in at least one of the following areas: structural-stratigraphic seismic framework building, qualitative petroleum assessment, reservoir modeling, charge (fluid phase) modeling, petroleum geochemistry.
Data Handling: Comfortable working with and integrating diverse datasets.
Software: Experience using ArcGIS and Petrel. Comfortable working with cloud-based virtual workstation and communication tools.
Soft Skills: Creative and open to new ideas. Ability to work virtually as part of a team under a team lead.
Preferred: Ideally, one person with Nigeria offshore basin expertise.
In addition, the team lead will have these additional qualifications:
Proven team leader and contributor
Excellent communicator & motivator
