For this project, we are seeking a geoscientist who can complete a regional evaluation of geothermal resources in the Western US. The regional evaluation will use play-based exploration mapping techniques to identify the most attractive play segments per main geothermal resource type in the region. This will be followed by a resource assessment for the recoverable energy potential taking into consideration techniques available today or likely available in the near future.
The ideal candidate will be an expert in Western US geology, play-based exploration and resource assessment. In addition, familiarity with geothermal systems will be beneficial. The geoscientist will work both independently and in collaboration with the client to take a fresh look at geothermal resources in the area of interest. An open mind and the use of geologic first principles not constrained by oil & gas processes is highly desired.
The key deliverables are:
Regional evaluation using play and sweet spot mapping
Risk analysis and play ranking
Compilation of public data
Report summarizing findings with attached ArcGIS geodatabase
What You’ll Bring:
Background in play-based and sweet spot assessment using regional datasets and play elements integration is required
Knowledge in Western US geology is preferred, igneous and metamorphic knowledge is a plus
Experience assessing geothermal systems is beneficial but not required
Familiar with ArcGIS Pro for map-based analysis
Comfortable finding and working with public datasets
Creative, open-minded and willing to think outside established oil & gas processes
Project Application closes on 05 September 2024 at 5pmCT/ 10pm UTC.
